1. Kidnapping Is "Sexy" - 365 Days

Capone Tom Hardy

If you thought Fifty Shades of Grey was insulting and regressive, it seems positively forward-thinking compared to Polish erotic drama 365 Days, which was released on Netflix over the summer.

The story follows impossibly handsome crime boss Don Massimo Torricelli (Michele Morrone), who decides to kidnap gorgeous executive Laura (Anna-Maria Sieklucka).

He then tells her that he'll keep her as his prisoner for 365 days until she falls in love with him, but that he won't touch her without her consent. Predictably, Laura ends up falling for Massimo, and a fiery relationship ensues.

It's pretty clear why a petition requesting the film's removal received almost 90,000 signatures - the film glamorises Stockholm syndrome and sexual abuse throughout, painting clear psychological torment as "sexy," ensuring that Laura's "love" for Massimo is built on an extremely problematic foundation.

To date Netflix hasn't removed the film, and a sequel is reportedly due to go into production soon. Oof.
