20 Most WTF Movie Moments Of 2022 (So Far)

1. The Birthing Scene - Men

And finally we have Alex Garland's new horror film Men, which is unquestionably one of the year's most divisive offerings to date.

It follows Harper (Jessie Buckley), a recently bereaved woman who takes a holiday in a remote village to heal, only to find herself harassed by a number of men who all share a starkly similar appearance (and are all played by Rory Kinnear).

The film's commitment to Weird S**t reaches a jaw-dropping apex in its finale, when the naked man who's been terrorising Harper throughout the movie reappears, his belly swollen as he gives birth to the young boy who's been harassing Harper.

The boy's stomach then swells as he gives birth to the vicar Harper meets earlier in the film, the vicar himself gives birth to Harper's landlord Geoffrey, and finally Geoffrey gives birth to Harper's husband. Again, except for Harper's husband, all of these characters are played by Kinnear.

While the precise meaning of this sequence is up for debate - most commonly accepted to be a commentary on cycles of toxic masculinity across generations - everyone can agree that it's as nauseating as it is wildly unexpected. Those visual effects sure are something, though.
