20 Movie Reveals That Must Happen At Comic-Con 2016
1. A Wonder Woman Teaser
Wonder Woman is one of the most important films in the near future of the superhero movie genre. It is the first female led superhero film in years. It is charged with disproving the flawed yet conventional wisdom that has held back female superheroes on the big screen. Production on the film has wrapped, so there is no shortage of footage that could be shown. It's up to Warner Bros. to make a stellar first impression.
Warner Bros. and DC Films will give it a go inside Hall H on July 23. Wonder Woman is going to get a full panel complete with stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Connie Nielsen along with director Patty Jenkins. It would be highly unusual for Warner Bros. to conduct a panel without showing footage, so it's really only a matter of what exactly is shown and who can see it.
Warner Bros. tried to keep some its DC movie footage exclusive to SDCC last year with Suicide Squad. After the footage leaked, Warner Bros. officially released it online. With Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. probably will not open the door for a similar situation. The studio knows everyone wants to see a piece of this film and it needs a teaser to go with Suicide Squad a couple weeks after anyway.
Expect Warner Bros. to premiere the first official teaser for Wonder Woman at Comic-Con, and if you're not there, be prepared to see it online (legally) immediately after. Wonder Woman is going to get her shot to be the talk of the Con.
