20 Movie Scenes That Are Totally Flawless

16. Dancing In The Stars - Wall-E (2008)

The Boondock Saints Willem Dafoe
Pixar

In a future where the earth is deemed uninhabitable, the last remnants of humanity live aimlessly on the spaceship Axiom. On the planet below, the waste disposal robot Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) finds signs that people can return to the surface whilst falling in love with a visiting probe robot called Eve (voiced by Elissa Knight).

Partway through the movie, Wall-E and Eve find themselves floating through space, and spend a scene flying around, dancing and rejoicing at the fact that they've found proof of life on earth.

It's a beautiful sequence, marrying the film's visual extravagance with its eye for sharp character detail. The two robots float through the sky, passed stars and gawking ship passengers, growing closer together whilst revelling in the importance of their discovery.

Wall-E might just be Pixar's most impressive achievement, and this scene finds the film at its sweetest, funniest and most affecting.
