20 Movie Sequels That Start Immediately After The First

Pixar's all-timer superhero flick The Incredibles ends with the Parrs defeating supervillain Syndrome (Jason Lee), after which an epilogue set three months later has the evil Underminer arrive in Metroville, forcing the heroes to suit up and prepare to do battle.

But considering that Incredibles 2 ultimately didn't release until 2018 - almost a full 15 years after the original - few would've been surprised if the follow-up brushed that teased battle entirely under the carpet.

Yet despite the huge chasm of time between sequels, director Brad Bird indeed opened Incredibles 2 by showing this epic battle, which surprisingly culminates in the Underminer escaping, all while the Incredibles are effectively blamed for the city-wide damage his rampage caused.

This belated sequel at least had the advantage of being animated, making the ageing of actors basically a non-issue. 

However, watching the two Incredibles films back-to-back is still a slightly strange experience considering how much the animation has improved between movies, despite both being set within the same year.
