20 Movie Sequels That Start Immediately After The First

The Karate Kid Part II took a page straight out of Rocky II, because the original film ended of course with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) defeating his nemesis Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) to win the All-Valley Karate Tournament.

And after a surprisingly lengthy five-minute recap of the first film, Part II drops us straight back into the aftermath of the competition, as Daniel takes a shower and is then praised for his performance.

Immediately following this, we see Johnny's infuriated sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove) attack Johnny, before Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) intervenes and stops the assault.

Granted this is really just the movie's prologue, as the story soon enough leaps forward six months, with Daniel and Mr. Miyagi preparing to head to Okinawa, Japan where the rest of the film's narrative is set.

All the same, few likely expected The Karate Kid Part 2 to resume directly after the original tournament, rather than pick up with Daniel a few months or even years later.
