2018's The Conjuring spin-off The Nun may not have been particularly memorable, but it grossed an insane $365.6 million worldwide against a mere $22 million budget, so few were surprised when producer Peter Safran confirmed a sequel a few months after release.

Last spring, screenwriter Akela Cooper (Luke Cage) was hired to pen the project, while Bonnie Aarons was confirmed to be returning as the demonic nun Valak.

No director or cast has yet been announced, though it's widely expected to be the next entry into the Conjuring Universe, following The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It due for release later this year.

Given that the series has released at least one new movie, be it a sequel or spin-off, every year since 2016, The Nun 2 should go into production later this year for a late 2021 bow.
