Can you guess what this movie is about from the title? That's right, it is in fact about a ship full of ghosts. A terrible horror movie from the director that delivered the equally awful Thirteen Ghosts remake opts to go for a fittingly cringe-worthy pun for the main marketing hook. First of all, horror movies shouldn't use puns. It kind of defeats the purpose of building suspense and terror. Secondly, the pun is woeful to say the very least. Then there is the fact that it doesn't even make a lick of sense; are they trying to tell us that the sea is evil? It is merely an infinite mass on which the evil is carried, surely. Even that sounds stupid just reading it out loud.
16. Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990)
The flogging of the dead horse that is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise continued with the series' third entry, which as well as acting as both a sequel and a reboot also features an unknown Viggo Mortensen. The movie actually had two taglines that were equally bad, but this one makes the list because it makes no sense whatsoever. What was the other one, I hear you say? Advertised as 'the most controversial horror film ever', the marketing team opted for the rather banal 'The Terror Begins The Second It Starts'. Which is a fair point actually, seeing as the opening scene features a woman being beaten to death with a sledgehammer. The 'teeth' in the other tagline refers to the chainsaw, which is fair enough given the name of the franchise. However, as a grammatical exercise it fails miserably and is pure nonsense.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
