20 Movie Talents We Lost In 2017
5. Gerald B. Greenberg
American film editor Gerald B. Greenberg rose to acclaim
when he was honoured with both the Academy Award and BAFTA for Best Editing in
1972 for his work on William Friedkin’s classic crime thriller The French
Connection.
Within a decade, both the Academy Awards and BAFTA judges would recognise his talents once again when he received nominations for his editing work on the 1979 drama Kramer vs. Kramer and Francis Ford Coppola’s Vietnam War epic Apocalypse Now.
Greenberg collaborated several times with director Brian De Palma throughout his career on movies including Dressed to Kill, Scarface and The Untouchables while his other notable editing credits included Michael Cimino’s ill-fated epic western Heaven’s Gate and Tony Kaye’s neo-Nazi drama American History X.
