2018 has been a pretty great year for cinema so far. Not only has it birthed some ridiculous financial successes, but the releases themselves have mostly been of a pretty high standard, with global phenomenons like Avengers: Infinity War redefining "event" cinema, Hereditary and A Quiet Place proving that horror is healthier than ever, and even the weaker flicks, like Solo: A Star Wars Story, being far from total disasters.

Despite being halfway through the year and with so many of the big hitters already entering and leaving theatres though, 2018's biggest movie months are only just kicking into gear. In fact, there's still plenty of highly-anticipated franchise instalments, long-awaited projects and new original properties set to drop before the year's out.

Some releases are more primed to kick ass than others though, destined to become box-office hits and awards-season darlings, and will no doubt come to define 2018 as a whole once everyone starts to draft out their "best of" lists come next January.
