20 New Horror Movies You MUST Watch This Halloween 2023
18. V/H/S/85
The latest entry into the horror genre's most beloved anthology franchise may not rank among its very best, but V/H/S/85 is still a barmy, blood-soaked ride well worth taking.
As its title makes clear, V/H/S/85 is a loving homage to '80s horror and culture in general, riffing on classic horror franchises, trashy tabloid TV shows, the satanic panic of the era, and everything in-between.
The anthology includes contributions from the likes of David Bruckner (Hellraiser), Natasha Kermani (Lucky), and Gigi Saul Guerrero (Bingo Hell).
The very best of the shorts, the intoxicating "Dreamkill," meanwhile comes from the great Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Black Phone), and alone makes this admittedly uneven-at-times anthology absolutely worth watching.
V/H/S/85 is streaming now on Shudder.
