20 People You Won't Believe Have Never Won An Oscar

7. Ed Harris

Ed Harris, because of the fact that he rarely ventures into starring roles, is often taken for granted as an actor, but in actual fact he is considered one of the most consistent stars in Hollywood and he has 4 Oscar nominations to his name. As he is so consistent, it's hard to pinpoint where his best work has been, but his performances in Apollo 13, The Truman Show and The Hours are all very impressive and have all earned him Oscar nominations as Best Supporting Actor. Harris is among a unique class of actors, in that he never comes with any Hollywood gloss or baggage, rather he simply completes his acting with minimal fuss and a great deal of professionalism. As a result, he is a well-liked actor among the public but unfortunately, this modest attitude means that his star turns rarely get acknowledged. I think he was horribly overlooked for his performances in The Way Back and A History Of Violence, both of which were of Oscar nomination caliber He is one of those actors who seldom comes into the Academy radar and he could be described as Christopher Plummer-esque, in that he only made his big breakthrough in his 40's and so he may also be a late bloomer in terms of attaining Oscar gold.
