10. Alien - Nostromo Hallway

Ridley Scott does a fantastic job creating an oppressive atmosphere in his sci-fi masterpiece by focusing early on the Nostromo's long, claustrophobic hallways, which of course will later make the crew an easy catch for the Xenomorph.

With H.R. Giger helping design many of the movie's core elements, such as the Nostromo and the Xenomorph, it's easy to interpret these long, canal-like hallways as vaginal, as the Xenomorph transforms from an infant to an adult while skulking around the ship.

In terms of pure mood, it's a beautifully bleak image that could be released today and still be jaw-droppingly effective.
