20 Reasons Why the Original Arthur is the Greatest Comedy of All Time

5. You Want to Be Arthur

Let's face it. We all want to be Arthur; the cars, the houses, the drinking, the women - and yes, the money. Heck, even his bedroom is awesome.

Who wouldn't want to be Arthur? Or, as Arthur himself says in the movie, "Don't you wish you were me. I know I do...".

6. John Gielgud

John Gielgud is THE MAN. It is impossible for anyone watching this movie not to love Gielgud's efforts as Hobson, whose judgmental personality, authoritative voice, and exceedingly dry humor steal every scene he's in.

Hobson's scene on the streets of NYC after Linda is caught stealing a tie is the stuff comedy is made from. "Good luck in prison." leaves me rolling on the floor with tears in my eyes every time I watch this movie - and I've watched it at least 25 times.
