20 Reasons Why the Original Arthur is the Greatest Comedy of All Time

11. No Political Correctness

Now that every person on earth has grown weary of the tiresome trend toward political correctness, it's nice to watch a movie at the other end of the spectrum.

No, we don't want to glorify Arthur's vices, we just want to be left alone and not be preached to. A politically-correct adjustment to Arthur's drunken childishness would fatally diminish his immaturity and eventual growth into adulthood. Arthur is a drinking-and-driving, womanizing, whoring spendthrift and is very happy about it.

12. Unforgettable Lines

Arthur is absolutely filled with memorable lines, many of which are still quoted today. "Are you a hooker? Jesus, I just thought I was doing great with you." "Good luck in prison." " I race cars, play tennis, and fondle women, BUT! I have weekends off, and I am my own boss. " "Don't you hate Perry's wife?" "Usually one must go to a bowling alley to meet a woman of your stature." "He's taking the knife out of the cheese. Do you think he wants some cheese?" Heck, there's even a mildly philosophical line uttered by Arthur during his engagement dinner with Susan - "Not everyone who drinks is a poet. Some of us drink because we're not poets."

If you don't know these lines, then you haven't seen the movie. Watch it now.
