20 Reasons Why We Love Joss Whedon

5. He Represents a 20-Something€™s Teenage Years

I saw this for this first time in my teens, and I don't think it'd be possible for me to ever forget it: http://youtu.be/hmoU05_Fr5A You must have heard that phrase €˜youth is wasted on the young€™. It€™s not until you hit your mid to late twenties, and you€™re beginning to really feel the pressures of adult life, that you appreciate exactly what that means. Looking back on the teens from the twenties €“ not for everyone, but for many €“ is that first powerful encounter with retrospect. There are countless numbers out there who, if you were to ask them which TV shows they most remember from their teenage years, will say Buffy, Angel or Firefly. These are powerful connections to make, as they become linked with the emotions, the crisis and the realisations that we were living through as we developed. Exactly like how a certain smell can trigger powerful emotional memories, as can that specific theme tune, or that special favourite episode.
