20 Most Ridiculous Lines From The Harry Potter Films
15. Neville's Entire Speech - Deathly Hallows: Part 2
The Line: Harry is believed to be dead, and Neville steps forward to say something to the gathered congregation, including Lord Voldemort, who has openly mocked him prior. Neville says, "It doesn't matter that Harry's gone...People die every day...friends...family. Yeah, we lost Harry tonight, but he's still with us, in here. So's Fred, and Remus, Tonks...all of them. They didn't die in vain. But you will, 'cause you're wrong! Harry's heart did beat for us, for all of us! It's not over!" At this point, Neville draws the Sword of Gryffindor, Harry awakens, and the final battle begins. Why It's Ridiculous: The film draws total attention to the fact that Neville's speech is supposed to be a little awkward, but it's also supposed to be epic and inspiring ahead of the final fight as well. Still, the sentiment that the dead live on in our hearts is trite, cliched dialogue of the highest order that we've heard in about a billion other movies, and his snipe at Voldemort doesn't sound bada** at all, it just sounds kinda wimpy and pathetic. Basically, it's a cheeseball moment in a movie that otherwise mostly nails it.
