20 Rotten Tomatoes Predictions For 2023's Biggest Movies
2. Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom (48%)
The original Aquaman netted a not-bad 65% score, though it's fair to say that the sequel has a hell of a lot working against it performing nearly as well both critically and commercially.
Where to begin? Test screenings have reportedly garnered a mixed response, the film's budget has skyrocketed due to a number of factors, current reshufflings at Warner Bros. may cause planned reshoots to be minimised, and of course, there's the whole stink surrounding Amber Heard's continued inclusion in the film.
This isn't to say that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be panned into the ground, but if it's just more of the same, it's tough to see it being as fondly embraced the year after critics have sat through two other ocean-faring tentpoles in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way of Water.
The constant release delays haven't helped foster much enthusiasm, and one suspects that by the time it finally drops this coming Christmas, it'll be met with a nonplussed shrug. Mixed reviews all the way.
