Directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, the man behind modern masterpiece, La Haine, Gothika is a cheap, preposterous and downright stupid studio horror movie. None of the talents Kassovitz displayed in La Haine are on display here and neither are the great acting talents of Halle Berry.
Berry has been in a lot of bad movies in recent years as her career has imploded, but none of them were as bad as Gothika, which is saying something.
