20 Things You Didn’t Know About Quantum Of Solace (2008)

2. Dry Another Day

It is well-known that an Aston Martin DBS crashed into Lake Garda, Italy during the film's production. However, less well-known is the fact that the crash did not actually occur during filming.

In fact, Aston Martin employee, Fraser Dunn was driving the vehicle to the set ready for shooting when he lost control of the luxury car on 19th April 2008. He managed to kick his way out of the wrecked DBS underwater and swam to the surface, fortunately only sustaining some bruises in the accident (even though some media reports claimed that he was left in a coma); he returned home to the UK after a brief stay in hospital.

The Aston Martin DBS was wrecked in the crash, dragged out of the lake, and impounded. However, a fan later paid £200,000 for the wrecked car - £80,000 more than its then-asking price had it been in pristine condition!

Contributor

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
