20 Things You Didn’t Know About Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

Blockbusters undergo many revisions, often meaning that the original draft rarely has any resemblance to the finished product. Into the Spider-Verse is no exception, since earlier scripts involved scenarios which never came to fruition, including Miles and Gwen becoming a couple, Ganke Lee playing a major role, and a "Big Lebowski" version of Doctor Octopus.

However, there was one shot in the final cut that was cooked up in the very beginning - Miles' leap of faith. In this scene, Miles jumps from a skyscraper, plummeting to the city below. When he launches himself, the window glass shatters because Miles' fingers are sticking, proving he's scared. Although Miles is falling, the shot is flipped, so it looks like he's rising, indicating he has finally earned the title of Spider-Man.

During an Insider interview, the directors explained how they envisioned this defining shot before they had a script. Given how effective the moment was, it's no surprise it survived every phase of the film's production.
