20 Things You Didn't Know About Batman Begins

7. Christian Bale Maintained His American Accent The Entire Time

When Christian Bale picked up his Golden Globe award for playing Dick Cheney in the 2018 film, Vice, viewers were taken aback by how strong his British accent was. Bale has such an uncanny ear for accents, especially American, people regularly forget that he was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

Brits often get a lot of stick for failing to nail an American accent; Gerald Butler in the Olympus Has Fallen franchise, Benedict Cumberbatch's Boston accent in Black Mass, and Sam Worthington's accent in... anything.

So what makes Bale so different? Why can he pull off the accent flawlessly? Basically, if Bale is playing a character with an accent, he will speak in that dialect from the first day of pre-production until the day the film is released. While he was promoting The Dark Knight trilogy, he maintained his American accent in all interviews. If he dropped out of the accent in-between takes, Bale feels like his "American" accent in Batman Begins would have a bit of a Cockney twang so it's better if he just maintains the same dialect throughout.
