20 Things You Didn't Know About Batman Begins

1. Batman Was Nearly Rebooted Again

Despite Batman Begin's influence on the superhero genre and revitalising the Batman career, its proposed sequel was nearly scrapped. You see, the film made $374 million at the box office. That may sound impressive until you realise that the budget was $150 million. A movie has to make double its budget to be considered a profit. By that logic, Batman Begins was only considered a minor success in terms of profit. On top of that, the film's marketing cost $100 million. At the time, this was the most that was ever spent on marketing a film.

Instead of Batman facing the Joker again, the producers thought the follow-up should be a reboot set 30 years in the future. The film would have Sylvester Stallone playing Bruce Wayne, now in his 50s and having abandoned his crusade as a superhero. After the country falls apart, he dons the cowl again and the story would have concluded with him battling a corrupt Superman.

Thankfully, this didn't happened (for a while.) If the producers succeeded in going in this direction, The Dark Knight would have never existed and we would have never seen one of the greatest superhero films of all time.
