20 Things You Didn't Know About Batman Begins

16. Christian Bale HATED The Batsuit

Christian Bale auditioned for the role of Bruce Wayne while wearing the Batsuit from Batman Forever. Bale said he “felt like an idiot" and was astonished Christopher Nolan told him he had won the role.

Now, you would assume after he won the the part, he would feel more confident, especially since he was given a Batsuit that was actually designed for his body.

Nope. His suit made him feel claustrophobic. He couldn't hear, he could barely see, and he couldn't turn his head (which was fixed in The Dark Knight). In his own words, "It's hot, dark and sweaty and it gives me a headache."

According to Bale, the most annoying thing about the costume was it didn't have a zipper. That's not a joke. When Ben Affleck asked Bale for advice for playing Batman, he said, "Make sure you can go to the bathroom."

Bale decided to best way to deal with his frustration was to use it for his character. When Bale is screaming at the Scarecrow or hurling criminals around the room, he's not acting; he's genuinely pissed off.
