5. Scarecrows Costume Was Designed To Look Ungainly
Although initially looking for a slightly older actor, Nolan was impressed enough by Irish actor Cillian Murphys Batman audition that he ended up casting him as Jonathan Crane, a.k.a. the Scarecrow. According to The Art and Making of the Dark Knight Trilogy, Murphys suits were designed so that the buttons of his jacket would be slightly off, his sleeves would be a little too short and his shoulders would be too small, making his arms and head appear oversize a little bit like a Scarecrow.
