20 Things You Didn't Know About Batman & Robin

17. It Helped Kill Tim Burton's Superman Lives

Tim Burton's Superman Lives is one of the most famous movies that never got made, but after witnessing Batman & Robin get torn apart by both fans and critics, Warner Bros. started getting even colder feet over relaunching Superman with Nicolas Cage in the lead.

The studio had already spent a fortune on developing the project, cycling through countless writers and a huge amount of absolutely insane story and character ideas, and the financial risk involved turned out to be too much after Batman & Robin failed to even crack $250m at the box office.

Had it actually managed to get across the finish line, all signs pointed to Superman Lives being a total disaster, but what a fascinating disaster it would have been.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
