20 Things You Didn't Know About Catwoman

In one sense, Laurel Hedare is perhaps Sharon Stone's most autobiographical role.

Before she got her big break in acting and became one of the most famous actresses of the 1990s and beyond, Stone was a model with natural good looks, a husky voice, and natural prowess. Laurel Hedare is also a former model; she married the owner of a successful cosmetics business, but has not been happy since.

A key event that demonstrates Laurel's unhappiness is when her husband, George ousts her as Hedare Beauty's leading model and replaces her with his mistress, the beautiful but shallow Drina, portrayed by Kim Smith.

However, reminders of Laurel's past life on the catwalk can be seen throughout the film.

Once Drina has supplanted her as the face of Hedare Beauty, all of Laurel's images are taken down and stored in the upper reaches of the Hedare Beauty skyscraper. They are damaged during the climactic encounter between Laurel and Catwoman, prefiguring the damage that Catwoman will soon inflict upon Laurel's face.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
