Sir Sean Connery closed the lid on his official career as Double-0 Seven in a very fitting way.

His last day of filming was on 13 August 1971 for the scene in which assassins, Mr Wint and Mr Kidd lock an unconscious James Bond in a coffin at the Slumber, Inc. crematorium, mistaking him for Peter Franks.

After completing the film, Connery famously announced that he would never play Double-0 Seven again; when the filmmakers attempted to lure him back once more for Live And Let Die (1973), he declined the offer, but endorsed Sir Roger Moore as being an ideal James Bond.

Several years later, his wife, Micheline Roquebrune convinced him to “never say never again” and portray Double-0 Seven once more in the 1983 unofficial Bond film of the same name.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
