John of course spends much of the movie conversing via walkie talkie with cop Al Powell, who provides him with moral support from the ground. The two characters don't actually meet until the end of the film, where the two warmly embrace.

And true to that relationship, Willis and Reginald VelJohnson didn't meet on-set until shooting their single scene together.

Given that the two actors likely read their walkie talkie lines opposite stand-ins - especially given Willis' insane schedule while shooting the film - it must've been quite the surreal experience for them to hang out for just one scene.

And yet, you'd never guess they weren't familiar with one another given how palpable their chemistry seems in that closing scene. That is acting.
