20 Things You Didn't Know About Inception
11. It Was The Third Most Pirated Movie Of 2010
If there's one thing you can count on every time a major movie is released, it's that it's going to be pirated.
Piracy is just one of those unfortunate inevitabilities that movie studios deal with. Going to the movies isn't cheap, nor is buying blu-rays or subscribing to streaming services, so certain individuals get around this by illegally downloading them from sketchy sites like BitTorrent.
Inception was a massive hit at the box office, but that didn't stop it from being heavily pirated. It was downloaded 9.72 million times on BitTorrent in 2010, making it the third most pirated film of the year.
The most pirated film that year was, unsurprisingly, James Cameron's Avatar, given the massive phenomenon it was at the time. It lead the pack with 16.58 million downloads.
Second place was a bit more surprising, with that unfortunate title belonging to excellent comic book film Kick-Ass, with 11.4 million downloads.
