20 Things You Didn't Know About Mad Max: Fury Road

3. The Effects Are Almost All Practical

Actions speak louder than words, so the saying goes, and the action in Mad Max: Fury Road is a loudmouthed barrage of incredible scope.

What’s even more remarkable is that the vast majority of what you see on screen was achieved by practical means, as Miller outlines below:

“There are moments of green screen mainly for some landscape, but this is not a green screen movie. We crashed a lot of cars; every stunt was done, if not by the cast then by some very fine stunt men; and it was shot on a real location. I’ve had enough experience with CG to know that you can’t really get some of that immersive material authentic in a way.”

Even Hardy – who has a fear of heights – was persuaded to engage in some eye-watering stunt work, and it’s a minor miracle that not one significant injury was sustained in the course of the production.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
