20 Things You Didn't Know About Mission Impossible 2

8. The Only Film Where Hunt Isn't On The Run

In the latest installment, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, the villainous August Walker recalls the numerous times the Impossible Missions Force have turned on Ethan Hunt and he's not mistaken as Hunt is constantly forced to go on the run from his own organisation throughout the franchise.

So it is interesting to note then, that MI2 is the only film out of the six where Hunt is always working with the IMF. In the first movie he is believed to be a mole and is disavowed. In the third one suspected to be an enemy and forced to go on the run. In Ghost Protocol the entire IMF goes underground and Hunt becomes a fugitive. In Rogue Nation the IMF is disbanded and Hunt considered a Rogue agent. And finally in Fallout, the CIA are tricked into believing the IMF to be the Syndicate and Hunt's on the run again.

MI2 stands out therefore as the only one where Hunt is on good terms with the people he's working for.
