20 Things You Didn't Know About Raising Arizona

17. The Film Has A Subtle Nod To The Hudsucker Proxy

The Hudsucker Proxy stars Tim Robbins working as a mail clerk at Hudsucker Industries who becomes president under a nefarious scheme to sell off the company's stock, but ends up turning out several successful inventions.

As previously mentioned, the film came with a far heftier price tag than Raising Arizona, and despite the brothers and Sam Raimi beginning the script in 1981, it would be 13 years until the film saw the light of day. The Coens made Raising Arizona with this film ever-present in their minds, and as a result slipped in a sly nod to their future project.

In the film, H.I. is seen working at his manual labour job, with him and his fellow colleagues in grey overalls, red caps and sporting dirtied faces lingering over heavy machinery. These overalls are emblazoned with the logo of Hudsucker Industries, creating something of a Coen brothers cinematic universe.
