20 Things You Didn't Know About Speed

7. The Train On Hollywood Blvd. At The Climax Was... Just Another Bus

SPEED JEFF DANIELS

Speed used 10 different busses throughout filming, each outfitted differently to serve their purpose. One of the stunt busses was never intended to be used as a bus at all.

The film concludes after a runaway subway train is headed toward some unfinished rail construction, leaving Reeves no choice but to crash through the construction and hope for the best.

The train explodes through a billboard and onto the main strip of Hollywood Blvd., leaving Reeves and Bullock embracing each other as tourists and rubberneckers take photographs with disposable cameras - something that today would be replaced with iPhones.

Alas, the portion of the subway car wasn't a subway car at all, just another bus outfitted with seats to appear like the L.A. tram.
