20 Things You Didn't Know About Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

10. Fox HATED The Title

Star Wars New Hope

Star Wars may be one of the most iconic and recognisable movie titles of all time, immediately telling you what the film is about, but during production Fox wasn't happy with it at all.

Furthermore, they actually wanted to change the name, believing that Star Wars wouldn't appeal to women due to the emphasis on both sci-fi and warfare.

Hilariously, it's also alleged that focus groups who read the title assumed the film was a dramatisation of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's tumultuous marriage.

But proving that stuffed shirt studio executives and test audiences rarely represent the general public, Star Wars was in no way harmed by its title - quite the opposite, really.

Hell, President Ronald Reagan even named a proposed missile defense system after it in the 1980s.
