20 Things You Didn’t Know About The Nightmare On Elm Street Franchise
3. He Almost Fought Pinhead
It was a horror fan’s dream come true when Freddy’s glove appeared at the end of Jason Goes To Hell, suggesting a crossover with Friday the 13th. It took ten years for it to finally happen, but the dream came true in 2003 with Freddy vs. Jason. Originally, though, it could have been even cooler.
The film went through many revisions: in one version, Freddy and Jason's battle would conclude with the lake being drained and Freddy and Jason being pulled underneath. Dr. Campbell goes to investigate but is pulled down too, and then Freddy and Jason come out and begin fighting again. Then suddenly, chains shoot out that separate them and Hellraiser's Pinhead would appear at the last second, saying, “Now, what seems to be the problem?”
The film would end right there, teasing a Freddy vs. Jason. vs. Pinhead. How cool would that have been?
Unfortunately, the ending was scrapped, mainly because New Line didn’t want to purchase the rights to the character, and also because they considered Pinhead to be too low rent compared to Freddy and Jason.
