20 Things You Didn't Know About The Sixth Sense

4. The Ridiculous Preparation Of Donnie Wahlberg

The Sixth Sense
Buena Vista Pictures

Throughout the history of cinema, there are so many examples of actors going to extreme lengths to embrace their character.

For former New Kid on the Block Donnie Wahlberg, he was so desperate to nail the role of Vincent Gray that he did everything he could possibly do to become the unhinged, unwell Vincent.

Wahlberg moved away from his family and lived in a small New York City apartment for five weeks. With no credit cards with him, Donnie fasted for two days at a time, filling his eating days with steamed cabbage and beet juice.

As part of his 40 lb weight loss for the movie, Wahlberg would spend hours and hours just walking around the streets of NYC – and he didn’t shower for weeks on end.
