If a report from Vanity Fair is to be believed, Spielberg and Cruise's working relationship soured somewhat while the pair were promoting the movie.

Spielberg apparently grew frustrated by Cruise's increasingly eccentric behaviour in the lead-up to the film's release, particularly his infamous couch-hopping incident on the Oprah Winfrey Show and other speculated-about happenings.

Ironically, Spielberg may have accidentally shot himself in the foot here, given that he was initially supposed to appear on Oprah with Cruise but had to drop out at the last minute due to post-production work on the movie.

Needless to say, with Spielberg and Cruise sharing the couch, the tone of that interview would've been decidedly different.

Though the two haven't worked together since, the film still grossed an impressive $603 million worldwide regardless of Cruise's idiosyncratic extra-curricular activities.
