10. Jeanne Tripplehorn Refused To Strip For The Film
Waterworld features brief partial nudity when the Mariner first makes contact with Helen, but actress Jeanne Tripplehorn - who has appeared nude in films before and after this movie - refused to bare her own bottom for the film.
She instead insisted upon a body double, which she opted to choose herself for maximum authenticity.
According to Tripplehorn, she was given three stunt bottoms to choose from, and when they came into their trailer to disrobe, the four of them simply burst into laughter.
To show some support for her eventual pick, though, Tripplehorn remained on-set while the scene was being filmed, standing off-camera with a robe and towel to hand to the double.
Another fun fact: Tripplehorn apparently couldn't bring herself to get in a swimming pool for months after the slog of a shoot was finished. And honestly, who could blame her?
