14. Andy Was Originally Meant To Be A Repressed Sociopath In Child's Play

Everyone knows the story. Charles Lee Ray (aka Chucky), a disreputable serial killer known as the “Lakeshore Strangler,” transfers his soul into a "Good Guy" doll as he's on the run from the police. Little does he know a little boy by the name of Andy Barclay will soon be the new owner of him. Charles confides in Andy while he commits numerous murders. Once the adults accept Andy’s story as truth, it’s too late.

This is the story we all know and love, but originally the film was meant to tell an arguably creepier tale. In the initial version of the film, Chucky would do Andy‘s subconscious bidding. The original plot idea was to have Good Guy dolls that had latex skin and blood. If the kids ripped the latex skin, they could go out and buy Official Good Guy bandages. Being the lonely kid that he was, Andy makes a blood pact with the doll, and the doll comes to life whenever he goes to sleep. Chucky would take out Andy’s “enemies” starting with his babysitter and whoever else ticked him off.

The idea probably wasn’t that marketable so the powers that be decided to be more black and white about the film's premise. Thinking about it, it’s really disturbing that a kid could have such repressed rage.
