20 Things You Didn't Know About Zodiac
8. It Was Sent To Cinemas Under The Title "Gemini"
It isn't at all uncommon for movies to be sent to cinemas under codenames for security reasons, and in the case of Zodiac it went by the moniker "Gemini."
As much as this might seem like a cute nod to the real title - Gemini being a Zodiac sign and all - it's more likely a reference to the 1971 Clint Eastwood classic Dirty Harry, which drew heavily from the Zodiac killings, re-dubbing its own killer "Scorpio."
Furthermore, Eastwood's protagonist Harry Callahan's wardrobe and general style was actually influenced by Dave Toschi himself, who in turn amusingly calls Robert Graysmith "Dirty Harry" near the end of the movie.
