20 Things You May Have Missed In Creed

8. Homages To Past Franchise Entries

In true legacy sequel fashion, Creed features various props, lines of dialogue and musical cues that reference previous films and incorporate them in a manner that authentically shapes Donnie and Rocky's current journeys.

For starters, every time Rocky would visit Adrian and Paulie's graves he would leave a bottle of Four Roses at the latter's tombstone as this was stated to be his favourite drink in the older entries. As far as franchise landmartks go, Rocky's statue was put back up after it was taken down in 2006's Rocky Balboa, and Rocky's restaurant that debuted in the same picture is featured as well.

Beyond visual iconography, pieces of dialogue such as "Women weaken legs" and "There is no tomorrow" are revisited at different points, and Bill Conti's stellar 'Gonna Fly Now' is played when Donnie braces himself for the final round against Conlan.
