While X-Men Origins: Wolverine was rightfully derided for many of its storytelling and character decisions, Liev Schreiber’s Victor Creed/Sabretooth stood out as one of that doomed entry's few bright spots. His menacing demeanour and complicated dynamic with Logan evoked the duo’s classic rivalry in the comics while still being able to chart its own path.

Creed was considered for inclusion in Wolverine's trilogy-capper during its early days where the character would have been a successful casino owner in Oklahoma. Surprisingly, Victor would have been an ally this time round and Logan and co. would have turned to him after the confrontation with the Reavers.

While seeing a thriving Sabretooth contrast against Logan’s failings would have made for an interesting sight, it was decided that the story had enough going on as it was without cameos from characters from past films.
