In the beginning of the film, Luca Brasi asks to personally thank Vito for inviting him to his daughter's wedding. Wrestler, Lenny Montana, who portrayed Luca, was a massive fan of Marlon Brando and thought it was a dream come true to share the screen with him.

But when they shot the scene, the professional fighter became so nervous of being in the presence of his idol, he fumbled his lines and seemingly ruined the take. However, Francis Ford Coppola thought the way Montana mixed up his words benefited the scene. Even though Luca is a hulking brute, the way he gets noticeably nervous in Vito's presence made the Don look far more intimidating. Even though a lesser director would've asked the actors to do the scene again, Coppola believed Montana's mistake was the quickest way to show how much authority Vito had over his men.

Also, Brando deserves special credit for staying in character while Montana thought he messed up the shot.
