18. The Opening Sequence Was Filmed At "Nakatomi Plaza"
If the opening skyscraper in which the elevator is rigged to blow looks a little familiar to you, that's because it's the Fox Plaza, which at the time was the home of 20th Century Fox, the studio behind the film.
This wasn't the only film that the high-rise appeared in, though: it was most famously used as the Nakatomi Plaza in Die Hard, another film produced by Fox.
Keep your eyes peeled during Speed's opening sequence and you'll notice that the lobby and one of the building's floors are the same, architecturally-speaking, as the Nakatomi Plaza - because, of course, they were shot in the same skyscraper.
