20 Things You Somehow Missed In Alien

17. BLOB

Alien Mr Fusion
Fox

A very small but nonetheless interesting little inclusion concerns one Dr. Brian Wyvill, who worked as an animation programmer on Alien for the company System Simulation. However, after being told the company would be credited in the movie, he realised that the people working for it likely wouldn't be, so he devised a way to include himself.

As the crew attempts to land on the planet, the computer read-out for the "Deorbital Descent" quickly flashes through a series of numbers but, the letters "BLOB" remain constant. Blob was Wyvill's nickname and, ironically, since System Simulation didn't end up with a credit, this meant he ended up being the only member of that team to get his name on-screen.
