20 Things You Somehow Missed In Blade Runner

9. Deckard's Pistol

Blade Runner
Warner Bros.

Now coveted as one of the world's most famous movie props, it's easy to assume that Deckard's gun is simply just something dreamed up by the art department. However it's actually a real weapon that's been converted to look more at home in the dark reaches of the future.

The original weapon, actually a rifle rather than a pistol, was a model by the Steyr-Mannlicher company in Austria. The barrel was removed, the stock replaced with a pistol's handle, and a number of light fixtures added to make the thing feel more sci-fi. As you might expect though, this made it weigh a tonne.
