20 Things You Somehow Missed In Die Hard

17. Bruce Willis's Bare Feet

Die Hard Missed
20th Century Fox

Fans will remember the sequence in which John McClane is cornered by Gruber and his goons in the offices of Nakatomi Plaza and they shoot out the interior glass windows in an effort to force him out into the open.

McClane keeps on the move through the broken glass, but only at the cost of tearing his bare feet to pieces.

Even though Bruce Willis admitted to flinching whenever he watches the subsequent scene in which his character is seen pulling shards of broken glass out of his feet in a bathroom with blood pouring all over the place, the filmmakers actually arranged for him to have rubber "shoes" placed over his feet to keep his own feet from being cut to pieces. These rubber feet were made up to include realistic details, including his toenails, and can briefly be seen in a sequence in which Willis is on the floor, with his trouser leg pulled high above his ankle.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
