20 Things You Somehow Missed In Friday The 13th (1980)

8. Tom Savini's Cameo

Friday the 13th was a very hands-on production, just as many low budget films are.

Laurie Bartram's Brenda is killed offscreen at the camp's archery range and the audience is left to assume that she has been murdered using a bow and arrow (which appears to be the killer's forte).

However, the killers in the Friday the 13th franchise always manage to find a good use for corpses; in this film, Brenda's body is hurled through a window into the main camp cabin, landing right in front of Alice.

Whilst viewers might usually expect a mannequin or some other form of prop to be used for such a potentially dangerous scene, the sequence was actually performed by Tom Savini who, dressed as Brenda, was pitched through the window at Adrienne King and fell at her feet like a sack of potatoes.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
