10. Mrs Kintner's Real Slap
Lee Fierro’s portrayal as Mrs Kintner may have been short but it’s easily one of the most moving performances of the entire film. Audiences truly believed she was a grieving mother because her acting was so raw and believable.
As good of an actress as she was, Lee couldn’t fake a slap. Roy Scheider describes the scene as the “most painful” of his acting career because it required up to seventeen takes of real hits to the face. Fierro stated in a later interview that in one particular attempt, she slapped Roy so hard that his glasses fell off.
